The woman in her forties was climbing up the steep cliff face on the southern side of Mount Coonowrin when she fell.
She landed on rocky vegetation at the foot of the cliff face, which was approximately one third of the way up the mountain.
Two friends accompanying her at the time witnessed the fall and immediately made a call for help.
The AGL Action Rescue Helicopter winched its flight doctor and intensive care flight paramedic down to the woman, who was treated for serious injuries to her head and pelvis.
She was stretcher winched up to the helicopter and flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
She is in a critical condition.
