High Tea and Historical Fashion Parade

This May, A Very Fashionable High Tea is visiting the Abbey Museum! The Australian Costumers Guild and the Society of Creative Anachronisms are presenting this very special event, and would like to invite you to join them.

Delightfully tasty nibbles will be served on beautiful fine china whilst a stunning array of historical dresses is shown. These dresses will feature fashions from Victorian England and Georgian England, and through from the Regency and Medieval periods. Models will also visit each table to bring visitors up close and personal with items of clothing and accessories.

A short presentation on the Winchester Cathedral windows, and the Stained Glass conservation program that the Abbey Museum runs, conserving stained glass from medieval and Pre-Raphaelite inspired times, and especially the remnant Tudor glass from Winchester Cathedral.

The afternoon will be finished with a fashion parade in the Grand Hall in the grounds of St Michael’s College, the very same place that the Medieval Banquet is held.
