Bribie Island has had a fiery past few days with raging bush fires coming within metres of houses in the White Patch area.
Emergency services escalated their warnings at one stage to watch-and-act, while also closing all camp grounds on the Island till further notice.
Some residences were encouraged to voluntarily evacuate and the rest told to have a fire-action-plan in place.
A large amount of back-burning was undertaken today, and while any immediate threat has subsided, a change in weather conditions could quickly heighten danger.
A large contingent of Forestry workers, emergency personal and equipment including helicopter water-bombers are working around the clock.
