The Moreton Bay Regional Council Deputy Mayor is elected each term by 12 Councillors and the Mayor.

There has been speculation that Mike Charlton is the likely candidate for the position because of the Pine Rivers Councillor voting block and his staunch support for Mayor Allan Sutherland.
