John Paul Langbroek and his Teddy |
Queensland Liberal National Party (LNP) Leader John Paul Langbroek and his teddy (click here for more on the teddy) are no longer wanted by the party.
Senior LNP figure, Sunshine Coast regional chairperson Greg Newton, has demanded that Parliamentary leader John Paul Langbroek step aside.
Mr Newton hasn't passed comment, publicly sticking stringently to the LNP constitution. However several sources have confirmed Mr Newton was "extremely forceful" during the LNP executive meeting held on Friday, 11th February.
Mr Langbroek is said to have dug in his heels, which led to a 'robust' debate within the party. The LNP President Bruce McIver threw water on the raging debate, saying there isn't anyone to replace Mr Langbroek.

"We don't think we can have anyone else and we've got to stick with him," Mr McIver was quoted as saying.
LNP sources are saying that both Lawrence Springborg and Tim Nicholls have been desperately doing numbers to roll Mr Langbroek. While it is accepted the Parliamentary wing of the LNP don't by and large support Mr Langbroek as leader, both Mr Springborg and Mr Nicholls have split each others vote. This means that any challenge at this point is likely to fail should all three contest the leadership.
The window of opportunity to reshuffle the LNP Parliamentary team is closing, with a State election predicted later this year.
