Press Release:
The Sunshine Coast’s very own
amazing race is set to take place on Sunday 26 May, 2013, to raise money for the
Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors in the form of a car rally fundraiser.
The
mastermind behind the fundraiser is 13 year old Tegan Lather from Bribie Island.
“Last
year’s event was extremely successful and everyone who was involved really
enjoyed themselves so we want to take it to a new level this year so we can
raise even more funds for the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital,” Tegan said.
Despite
her tender years, Tegan successfully ran the event last year with help from her
parents and major sponsor Ferre De Deyne from The Big Kart Track. Over the past two years she has raised over
$30,000 for the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital and she hopes to raise another
$10,000 at this year’s car rally fundraiser.
“The fundraiser
has turned into a great community event, Ferre’s support has been exceptional
and a number of other local sponsors have come on board including Jetts Coolum and Peregian, Australia Zoo, QCCC Mapleton, Xperiences,
Healthy Water Ways, Fireworks Digital Colour, Qld Advertising, Bow Wow Chow, Aussie
World and Tangalooma Island Resort,” she said.
Much like the amazing race teams
of up to 5 will solve puzzles, take on fun
challenges at all of the venues of the
major sponsors. Teams will compete in fun competitions and navigate their
family car around the Sunshine Coast to win fantastic prizes including 5-night
stay at the SeaView Resort Mooloolaba valued at over $1,100 as well as family
passes to Big Kart Track, Aussie World, Australia Zoo and a tour of the
Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.
The
contestants and general public will also have a chance to win a Giant Raffle,
including a fantastic Dolphin Getaway Package for a family of 4 kindly donated
by Tangalooma Island Resort. Volunteers
will be selling raffle tickets at all the fun challenge destinations to raise
more money for the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.
The
Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital treated over 5800 sick and injured Australian
native wildlife in 2012 alone. This is
at no cost to the public.
Tickets for the rally are $125 per car (up to 5 people) and all profits
raised will be donated to Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors. Registration details can be found at www.wildlifeemergency.com.au/rally.
