50 Shades of Grey

Video transcript:

It’s Sunday the 16th December, 2012 and on this day back in 1770 - The great composer, Ludwig van Beethoven, is born.

The joke of the day: The man charged into the jewellery shop, slammed his fists angrily on the showcase, removed a wristwatch from his pocket and shook it under the nose of the owner. “You said this watch would last me a lifetime,” he yelled. “Yeah,” admitted the owner. “But you looked pretty sick the day you bought it.”

In the news: IMAGINE being called to see the boss and offered $25,000 to have a baby. That's exactly what happened to one former Austereo host but this was no joke.

The radio network meant business. A baby would mean ratings - and therefore ad revenue.

So when her then-boss took out a calendar and began speculating when the optimum time would be for her to conceive so that she could give birth between ratings survey five and six ("when it would get the best ratings") she didn't feel violated or surprised. Just sadly resigned to the fact that being asked to have a child (and give birth on air wearing a T-shirt bearing the station slogan) was considered a reasonable request.

Did you know: A bear has 42 teeth.

The random question of the day: Do you prefer to read your news from a paper or online?

Leave your answer below this video and if you’re up for it, tell us about your adventures under this sun. Also, please thumbs up and subscribe for more great views and generally useless information with the goal of helping you get through the day... Bye for now.
