ENERGEX - Power Out

ENERGEX crews are currently working to restore power to more than 1,000 homes and businesses still affected by storms currently hitting South East Queensland.
The storms brought with them more than 5,000 lightning strikes and up to 120mm of rain in the worst hit areas.
ENERGEX’s rapid response crews are working in adverse conditions to reconnect power to affected customers as quickly and safely as possible as thunderstorms and flash flooding continues to hit parts of the South East.
The worst hit areas are in the Sunshine Coast and Hinterland regions and Beenleigh.

Since the storms began this morning, power had been restored to more than 9,000 homes and businesses and crews will be working into the night to reconnect supplies.
A number of reports have been received of powerlines brought down with some areas inaccessible by flooding making the restoration process difficult.
As the Mary River continued to rise today ENERGEX enacted their emergency flood plan with crews on standby awaiting to disconnect power supplies to the main street.
The river threatened to reach 16m tonight causing ENERGEX to cut power to properties along Mary Street Gympie at 6pm. Power will be left off to the area until Mary River waters recede.
While ENERGEX crews continue working through the night more crews are on standby as further heavy rain and flash flooding is predicted over the next few days.
ENERGEX is encouraging anyone who sees fallen powerlines to keep themselves and others away and phone our priority number of 13 19 62.
ENERGEX thanks customers for their patience while repairs are underway.
